Our Principal, Kylie Perkins, has specialised in the family law space for over 20 years. Prior to law, Kylie worked in the commercial industry as a Manager for various leading investment companies.

Kylie chose her field of specialty after her appointment as a Legal Associate to the Honourable Tim Carmody, formerly of the Family Court of Australia. Since that time, Kylie has worked in both top tier and smaller firms prior to establishing Wallace Perkins Family Law in 2016.
As an Independent Children’s Lawyer and Separate Representative, Kylie is passionate about representing the interests of the children in the Family Law and Child Protection space and travels throughout Queensland including into remote areas. Kylie also sits on various Committees in Family Law and Child Protection to ensure that change can occur via a united voice.
Kylie is experienced in both financial and parenting matters in the Family law space in addition to undertaking work in QCAT and the Magistrates Court (Child protection and domestic Violence proceedings).
Kylie holds a Bachelor of Laws (1st Class Honours) and a Bachelor or International Business. As a mother of 3 children, Kylie understands the complexities of raising a family and in particular the challenges and joy of parenting children in the neuro-divergent space.
Kylie approaches each matter as being unique and strives to provide honest guidance and support for clients travelling through some of the most difficult times in their lives.

Her skills encompass drafting Court Applications as well as appearing as an advocate for her clients in Procedural and Interim Hearings in Divisions 1 and 2, of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, as well as the Magistrates Court of Queensland.
Laura has appeared for clients in a variety of Family Law matters including parenting disputes, de facto and same sex relationships, international parenting matters, financial agreements and settlements, child support, domestic violence, and spousal and adult child maintenance matters.
Laura prides herself on her approachable manner, professionalism, and genuine client care. She is particularly knowledgeable in complex parenting and domestic and family violence matters, having previously worked for the specialist Family Law Team at Legal Aid Queensland. Laura’s empathetic and compassionate nature allows her to provide sound and meaningful advice to her clients. Laura has an ambitious and empathetic approach to Family Law and aims to ensure clients receive the best possible outcome for their matter, whether their matter is in, or out of Court.
Laura is dedicated to getting the best outcome possible for her clients and formulates a variety of options and strategies to ensure solutions are tailored to each client based upon their individual needs and desired outcomes.

Frances first joined our team in early 2019 as part of the support team whilst studying her Bachelor of Laws (Honours) at the Queensland University of Technology. Frances left us for a brief period to seek out new experiences and was privileged to be appointed as a Legal Associate in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Div
Frances first joined our team in early 2019 as part of the support team whilst studying her Bachelor of Laws (Honours) at the Queensland University of Technology. Frances left us for a brief period to seek out new experiences and was privileged to be appointed as a Legal Associate in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1). During her time at the court , Frances gained an invaluable insight into the procedural and legal workings of the court which has greatly assisted her upon return to practice.
Frances returned to Wallace Perkins Family Law as a Law Graduate while completing her Practical Legal Training through the College of Law. She was admitted as a solicitor in September 2024 and has been a valued member of our legal team ever since.
Frances is also a keen world traveller and speaks fluent French having resided in overseas countries throughout her childhood.
Frances brings a thoughtful, client-focused approach to her work and continues to make a meaningful contribution to the families we support.
