Our Principal, Kylie Perkins, has specialised in the family law space for over 20 years. Prior to law, Kylie worked in the commercial industry as a Manager for various leading investment companies.

Kylie chose her field of specialty after her appointment as a Legal Associate to the Honourable Tim Carmody, formerly of the Family Court of Australia. Since that time, Kylie has worked in both top tier and smaller firms prior to establishing Wallace Perkins Family Law in 2016.
As an Independent Children’s Lawyer and Separate Representative, Kylie is passionate about representing the interests of the children in the Family Law and Child Protection space and travels throughout Queensland including into remote areas. Kylie also sits on various Committees in Family Law and Child Protection to ensure that change can occur via a united voice.
Kylie is experienced in both financial and parenting matters in the Family law space in addition to undertaking work in QCAT and the Magistrates Court (Child protection and domestic Violence proceedings).
Kylie holds a Bachelor of Laws (1st Class Honours) and a Bachelor or International Business. As a mother of 3 children, Kylie understands the complexities of raising a family and in particular the challenges and joy of parenting children in the neuro-divergent space.
Kylie approaches each matter as being unique and strives to provide honest guidance and support for clients travelling through some of the most difficult times in their lives.

Andrew McCormack is a Special Counsel at Wallace Perkins Family Law.
With more than 21 years’ experience as a legal practitioner (and a lifetime immersed in the law) Andrew practises in family law, child protection law, and domestic violence law. He supports clients across Brisbane, Toowoomba, coastal and regional Queensland, northern New South Wales, and beyond.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland and is an Accredited Specialist in Family Law, a distinction conferred by the Queensland Law Society in 2013. He is also a Collaborative Lawyer and an AMDRAS Accredited Mediator in both family and general commercial law, bringing a rare breadth of expertise to complex family disputes. Andrew was previously the Chair of the Queensland Law Society’s Family Law Specialist Accreditation Advisory Committee and served three terms as a member of the committee.
Admitted to practice in the Supreme Courts of Queensland and New South Wales, as well as the High Court of Australia, Andrew has worked across the full spectrum of family law matters.
Andrew’s experience includes parenting disputes, matrimonial and de facto property settlements, child support, child protection; domestic and family violence matters, rural and inter-generational property disputes, and third-party interventions. He has particular expertise in matters involving farming families, trusts, business structures, and complex third-party interests — where family law intersects with taxation, equity, succession planning, and corporate law.
Andrew’s approach is pragmatic, forensic, and client-focused. He is known for his attention to detail, lateral thinking, and strong, persuasive advocacy before the Courts. While he is an experienced litigator who will robustly defend his clients’ interests when required, Andrew firmly believes litigation should be a tool of last resort — not the starting point. Wherever possible, Andrew works collaboratively to resolve disputes efficiently, minimising unnecessary cost, stress, and emotional toll.
Throughout his career, Andrew has been driven by a desire to make a meaningful difference for families, particularly those in rural and regional communities who may otherwise struggle to access specialist legal representation. He regularly works alongside accountants, financial advisers, agribusiness consultants, and other professional advisers to achieve practical, durable outcomes that allow clients to move forward with certainty.
Andrew’s connection to the law began early, growing up around his sole practitioner father and his long-standing legal practice. Early exposure to the law shaped Andrew’s respect for the profession and his commitment to principled, client-focused practice.
Born in Griffith in south-west New South Wales and raised in Murwillumbah on the New South Wales North Coast, Andrew now calls Toowoomba home and works between Brisbane, Toowoomba, and surrounding regions. Andrew is highly experienced in cross-border family law matters and has appeared in and conducted proceedings in Western Australia.
Outside of practice, Andrew enjoys fountain pens, journalling, and bespoke stationery through his brand Inktorneys. He also has a strong interest in electoral systems (a degree in Australian Domestic Politics will turn you out that way) and works as an Officer-in-Charge for both the Australian Electoral Commission and the Electoral Commission of Queensland during state and federal elections.
A small black cat, a little blue smiley face, and a ceramic bee often accompany Andrew. This is part family tradition and part reminder of his wife (Louise, an estate planning and structuring practitioner) and his three daughters.
Andrew brings depth, clarity, and quiet authority to every matter he handles, offering clients not only technical excellence but steady guidance through some of life’s most complex transitions.
